Perfectly sweetened chocolate oatmeal topped with peanut butter, bananas, cacao nibs, cookies and coconut shreds makes the perfect breakfast or snack.

Smoothie bowls aren’t the only pretty things you can eat for breakfast…introducing the oatmeal bowl. It’s super healthy, exceptionally yummy, makes the perfect breakfast or snack (or any other meal, for that matter), and can be just as creative, pretty and versatile.

If you’ve seen any of my other posts, you probably figured out what kind of food I like to cook and eat- foods that are easy/simple to make and are easily tweaked in the flavor department. Oh and pretty plates of food are always a bonus!

Oatmeal bowls are wonderful. I’m basically obsessed with oatmeal and although I usually opt for savory varieties, I decided to go the sweet route, and what better sweet combo than chocolate and peanut butter? For this oatmeal bowl, I just cooked my oats like normal but added some cocoa powder and sugar while cooking. Then I topped it with peanut butter, banana roses (what?!) cacao nibs, cookies, and coconut shreds.

BANANA ROSES
Going back to the banana roses – you know how avocado roses were all the rage? Well I wanted to try it with a banana, and guess what? It works! Each banana rose takes about a quarter to a third of a banana. Simply peel the banana and cut it lengthwise to just make a flat edge. Thinly slice the banana on a diagonal, spread them apart, and roll it up (watch any avocado rose tutorials, and you’ll get the idea).

And that’s all! Again, get creative and play with different flavors of oatmeal and topping ideas. Next on my list to try: lemon oatmeal topped with some type of blueberry sauce and ricotta cheese! I hope you enjoy! Hugs & kisses and all my best wishes!

  1. Add oats, water, cocoa powder, sugar and salt to a small pot. Put over medium to high heat until boiling, stirring occasionally. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally (cook for additional time if oats aren't cooked to your desired texture).
  2. Taste and add more sweetener if desired.
  3. Pour cooked oats into a bowl. Add desired toppings - banana, peanut butter, cacao nibs, cookies, coconut shreds and milk.
  4. Enjoy!
